Earth: Revival

Making opportunities out of obstacles with Earth: Revival at Gamescom

Nuverse’s upcoming open world shooter was ready to demo at Gamescom, but when team couldn’t make it due to COVID-19 restrictions we improvised. We learned the demo by heart, confirmed tier 1 media previews and showed it off ourselves with the dev team on speed dial.

Gamescom represents a fantastic opportunity to debut new games, organise global reveals and gauge media and player interest on a large scale. A well-placed media preview event or a consumer booth can kickstart the marketing cycle for a game and bring it to the top of media attention, but they require careful planning and execution.

While organising preview events and activations on the Gamescom show floor is our bread and butter, supporting Nuverse, the gaming publishing arm of ByteDance, and their reveal of AAA open world shooter Earth: Revival was unique. This was a new IP from an unknown developer and the development team couldn’t make it to Cologne in person due to COVID-19 restrictions.

That didn’t stop Swipe Right from going above and beyond to support Earth: Revival. Aside from securing 82 news articles across global media and 20 media previews at Gamescom, wWe studied the show floor preview demo and guided journalists through it on behalf of the dev team,.

We’ve highlighted the key features of the game and its expansive open world and made sure to communicate with the developers regularly and run any complex questions by them for clarification. This led to blanket tier 1 news coverage and previews in key specialist press.
